Day one of being off work

Today is my first day off work after being unwell for over a year. The last time I was off was when I was in hospital with a pulmonary embolism in 2010. Now I am off because the abdominal pain has become too much. I sleep reasonably well but wake up in the night in pain sometimes. I am physically and mentally tired. So I thought I would write on here about my experience over these next few weeks.

I am still waiting for my latest blood test results. These are the resits because I failed the first tests. My PSA (prostate) results were abnormal (7.7); my liver results were abnormal; my cholesterol levels were high; and I had a separate text from the NHS to say my blood sugar levels were high. I have since had a test for diabetes and I don’t have that at least.

One thing that has been good is the many lay people in my various churches who have shown care and concern, with some of them praying for me. This is an unexpected extra.

Back again tomorrow!
